The "next gig" was United Artists, Pierre had been told by his prospective father in law to get a proper job (songwriter was not considered a job in Munich) so he rang Noel Rodgers, MD of UA and asked to be given a job, he was, and the first one was to supervise (produce) the soundtrack of the movie "The Charge of the Light Brigade" directed by, aided by pink champagne, Tony Richardson. A simple task involving a noisy 12 track recorder and a 120 piece band and 80 singers, piece of piss ! Donavan was asked to write the single for the movie, but the company's attitude got up his nose and finally the record was made by Manfred Mann, it was pretty bad.
At United Artists Pierre signed The Scots of St James ( later known as The Average White Band ), helped put on the musical "Hair" (later asked by Galt McDermott to produce the sequel "Isobel's a Jezabel"). Pierre continued writing and producing ( although not actually asked to by United Artists ) songs for Francoise Hardy, Billie Davis, Nana Mouscouri, Io Nomardi, Wenke Myrre, Al Matthews and Maxine Nightingale. Whilst writing, found time to work and design over 1000 album covers and campaigns for artists as diverse as Shirley Bassey, Hawkwind, Amon Duul, Can, Dr Feelgood, Man, Brinzley Schwartz, Slim Whitman, Busby Berkerley, Vicci Carr, Creedence Clearwater, Wives of the Beach Boys, Lightnin Hopkins, The Flaming Groovies (nice one Cyril), The Groundhogs, Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire, Francoise Hardy, The Ventures, Bobby Vee, Jackie Deshannon, Canned Heat, Maxine Nightingale and a few others.

Maxine's song "Right Back Where We Started From" was to put it mildly a large hit, the song went to number one in the USA and the album top 40, Pierre made a follow up "Gotta Be The One" which did not do so well and spent nearly a year organising Maxine's band for the USA tour, trying to make an album in LA using guys from Santana, Earth Wind & Fire, Stevie Wonders band etc whilst Maxine was going slowly out of control. Pierre said goodbye to Maxine in New York one night and flew back in the morning to find that UA had relocated his office in the corridor! Pierre has worked in studios all around this world, and was the first western producer to work in Hungary ( a great band called Fonograph).

After United Artists, Pierre turned to commercials or jingles and wrote and produced over 150 30-second thrills including Yardley Cosmetics, Nescafe Gold Blend, Audi, Kellogs, Weetabix, American Express, Tesco, Woolworths, Ponds, Burgerking, Shreddies, Kiddicraft, Great Mills Stores, Tide, Camay, Stella Artois and many others.

Films include music for "Slapshot" with Paul Newman, "The World is Full of Married Men" with Joan Collins, "Rough Cut" with Burt Reynolds, "The Berkerly Sq Job" with David Niven, "The American Way" with Dennis Hopper, Michael J Pollard, "Coast to Coast" Lenny Henry, Michael Shay, "Soul Survivors" with Ian McShane, Isaac Hayes & Al Matthews ( which had Isaac miming to Pierre's songs!) & recently "Slums of Beverley Hills".

Right Back Where We Started Fromwas remade a hit by Sinitta a few years ago and Pierre has now recieved about 5 awards by PRS & ASCAP award for "But Its Allright" by Huey Lewis for one of the most played songs in the USA.
